Before I began working primarily in weddings I worked in the documentary field. This storyline driven approach is paramount in my workflow and style to creating a wedding film. Instead of focusing on getting incredible looking shots of you and creating a music video style film my work focuses on telling the story of the day you are having. This takes time on the day, I’ll want to walk the grounds with you and chat throughout your wedding to get a more rounded view. This is less of a traditional take on wedding videos which requires my clients to open up and be comfortable in front of me and my camera, to focus on telling a story and creating an experience.
The final product takes more time and is longer than most wedding videographer’s final work. That is to say it isn’t something easily shared on social media, the films don’t tend to be flashy and quick. Building an environment and telling a story is difficult to accomplish in short form work, many of my films range from 6-12 minutes. It’s easier to approach the wedding as a documentary with individual characters than just a highlight film. If my style is something you are interested feel free to reach out, I look forward to hearing from you.
